Crankshaft weight reduction (approx. 1250 g - 1500 g) and balancing
M11x1,5 for late /6, /7 and alle R80 and R100 models.
The counterweight of the crankshaft lobe of a boxer engine is a result of the rotating and oscillating masses of the conrods and pistons.
In order to sensibly lighten and balance a boxer crankshaft, these masses (e.g. piston, conrods, etc.) must be minimised.
Only then can the balancing weights be removed and the crankshaft be lightened.
Piston and conrod weight each must be under 500 g.
Depending on the piston weight, heavy metal plugs may have to be inserted, item no. 113012!
e.g. for 860 ccm 2 plugs!
Please send us your crankshaft in exchange.
